About Blue Slate, Inc.
Our History And Experience

We were founded in February of 2002.  Blue Slate, Inc. is a family owned and operated landscape rock wholesale company located in the Inland Northwest, right in the heart of the beautiful Pacific Northwest.

We produce Eagle Mtn. Slate landscape rock and WoodStone Decorative Rock products, supplying landscape rock materials to wholesale customers throughout  the Pacific Northwest, on the West Coast and primarily in the Inland Northwest area.

You can find and purchase our landscape rock and decorative rock products at the quality landscape supply centers listed on our Retail Distributors page.

Blue Slate, Inc. owner, Jesse Schacher, has been in the landscape rock, decorative rock and aggregate business for over thirty years.  Prior to starting our own business, Jesse worked for Pacific Rock Products in Vancouver, Wa. for eleven years as a supervisor.  During that time, he managed Pacific Rock's Fisher Quarry for seven years and operated his own landscape rock company, Rock Solid, as well.  The knowledge and experience he's brought to Blue Slate, Inc. is invaluable.

In his spare time, Jesse has installed landscape and hardscape projects on properties that we own and also for friends and family members.  Photos of his creative work can be viewed on the Photo Gallery pages and they are featured in some of the Landscape Rock Videos.

What's New At BSI - Current Landscape Projects And Plans

In additon to producing and supplying slate landscape rock, after thirty years of working in the aggragate and decorative stone industry (and of creating our own dream landscapes) we've decided to share the experience and knowledge that we have gained over the years with other homeowners.

We are currently busy designing and creating a series of downloadable landscaping eBooks designed to guide homeowners through the process of designing, planning, installing and maintaining their own beautiful landscapes step-by-step.

"The Art of Landscaping With Ease" Step-By-Step eBook Series

"The Art of Landscaping With Ease" step-by-step eBook series is an ongoing project that has been a fun and exciting project for us.  It's one that we feel will arm homeowners with the knowledge they may need to enable those who want to "Do-It-Themselves"... or those who wish to hire some of the work done or even those who choose to hire a professional to design and install their dream landscape for them...  to do so wisely and affordably.

How Can Homeowners Create Beautiful, Low-Maintenance Landscapes?

Beautiful Dream Landscapes Are Good...  Low-Maintainance Landscapes Are Good... Combining Both In Your Own Dream Landscape Is Awesome!

Saving money while you're at it is the bonus!  In addition to passing on valuable knowledge about how to create and install a beautiful dream landscape (knowledge gained through our own experiences landscaping over the years) we'll also include our best tips and techniques to create a beautiful landscape that will be much easier to maintain after it's installed...

This knowledge will enable homeowners to spend less time, work and money on maintaining their landscapes and spend a lot more time enjoying their outdoor spaces for years to come!

Often low-maintenance landscape techniques and considerations are overlooked by homeowners and even, occasionally, by landscaping professionals during the planning, designing and installation phases of creating a beautiful landscape.

Yet these very techniques and considerations are absolutely key to ensuring that your beautiful new landscape remains beautiful over time without spending endless hours pulling weeds and doing unnecessary tasks that can be easily severely reduced or even eliminated if you plan, design and install your beautiful landscape with low-maintenance in  mind.

The feeling you get is absolutely awesome after you've just installed your beautiful dream landscape!  There's nothing quite like seeing your dream landscape take shape right before your eyes...

However, the flip side is that it's far less than awesome to see a beautiful, dream landscape deteriorate or quickly become over-run with unsightly weeds, etc. just because steps weren't taken to reduce or eliminate many of the labor intensive maintenance issues ahead of time... during the planning and installing phases.

That's why, when we're finished, you'll find many valuable tips and techniques to create a beautiful, low-maintenance landscape in our "The Art of Landscaping With Ease" step-by-step eBook series.

Homeowners will also find our best advice on techniques we use to design, install and maintain beautiful and useful landscapes in an affordable way...  from designing for their specific wants and needs to reducing or eliminating costly and labor-intensive maintenance work later on.

Why Are We Creating "The Art of Landscaping With Ease" eBook Series?

Lastly, many homeowners (including ourselves) have been and are affected by the current state of the economy in various ways.  We've heard endless stories, of course, of homeowner losses nationwide  And we know many people (friends, family, neighbors) who have been affected by what has happened with the economy in very negative ways.

We also see many homeowners, friends and neighbors, still struggling just to make ends meet in the current economy.  In many instances, about the last thing people can afford to do is "hire everything done for them" as they may have been able to do not so long ago.

Yet, we find that most homeowners still have a desire to keep their homes and landscapes looking their best.  How can homeowners who have hired everything done for them in the past still do that in this economy?

This is perhaps the main reason we decided to tackle our landscape eBook series project.  What inspired us the most is knowing that we could pass on landscape knowledge, experiences and many valuable tips that will save other homeowners a lot of time, work and money... whether they decide to tackle their landscape projects themselves, hire part of the work out or even turn their whole landscape project over to a professional.

Our hope is that homeowners will find as much value in our step-by-step landscape eBook series as our wholesale customers, landscapers and homeowners have found in our slate landscape rock and decorative rock products!

We hope you will find value in the unique landscape rock you'll find at our local Distributors, the information, ideas, photos, videos and free report downloads you'll find here and, especially, in our new "The Art of Landscaping With Ease" eBook series!  Coming soon!  Enjoy...
